The EMPoweRx 2024 Clinical Skills Competition is a prestigious event crafted for Pharmacy Residents, Medical Residents, PA/NP Fellows, EMTs, and practitioners within 3 years of graduation. This competition offers a platform to showcase and hone your clinical skills in emergency medicine pharmacotherapy amidst a competitive and collaborative environment. Form a team of up to two and engage in a spirited contest that culminates in a live championship round during the EMPoweRx Conference on April 26-27, 2024, at Hilton’s Embassy Suites Ayrsley, Charlotte, NC.
Participants will traverse through timed virtual rounds consisting of case-based multiple choice questions, meticulously designed to challenge and expand their clinical knowledge. Teams will collaborate to answer as accurately and swiftly as possible, striving for a place in the live championship round. The championship will present a live case scenario, testing both theoretical knowledge and practical application in a high-stakes setting under the discerning eyes of our esteemed judging panel from the EMPoweRx Planning Committee.

A comprehensive range of emergency medicine pharmacotherapy topics will be explored, including Acute Coronary Syndromes, Glycemic Control, Infectious Diseases, Neurological Emergencies, Maternal and Women’s Health, Behavioral Emergencies, Trauma Resuscitation, and much more.
Registration Period: October 18, 2023 – December 31, 2023. Notification of Participation: January 31, 2024.
The triumphant teams will not only gain a prestigious accolade but also carve a notable presence in the community of healthcare professionals dedicated to advancing clinical practice in emergency medicine. Top 3 teams receive an trophy and certificate along with free registration to the conference.

Participants should be enrolled in a postgraduate program or be practitioners within three years of graduation from disciplines such as pharmacy, nursing, medicine, physician assistant studies, emergency medical technicians/ Paramedics, and others.
Teams can have up to two members. It’s encouraged that teams are formed based on common educational or professional affiliations, but cross-disciplinary teams are also welcomed.

Registration for the competition is free. However, complimentary conference registration is only provided to those teams that advance to the final championship round.
The competition begins with virtual rounds where teams will engage in timed, case-based multiple choice examinations. The top teams will then progress to a live championship round held during the EMPoweRx Conference.

Virtual rounds will be facilitated through the Pharmacy & Acute Care University’s platform. Further instructions and login details will be shared with registered teams.
Participants are not allowed to use notes or any other supportive materials during the testing phase. However, team members may communicate with each other to derive answers without any external assistance.
Teams are judged based on the number of correct answers to multiple choice questions during the virtual rounds, and by the number of correct components addressed in the final case during the championship round.
The top three teams will be honored with awards and recognition during a special segment of the EMPoweRx Conference.
