Minimum Qualifications:
Education: PharmD or BS in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
Licensure, Certification, Registration: Registered Pharmacist in Massachusetts or ability to obtain this licensure.
Preferred: Board Certification, ACLS, PALS.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
•Attend and provide drug expertise in emergency/code responses. •Excellent communication skills. •Ability to establish good rapport with patients, caregivers and the health care team •Conduct patient medication history and allergy review. •Oversight of medication history pharmacy technicians.
Experience:
•2 years of experience in area of specialty highly recommended •Completion of pharmacy residency, with critical care or emergency department experience preferred. •Experience in precepting student pharmacists or pharmacy residents preferred.

St. Mary’s Medical Center, the largest medical facility in the tristate region and West Virginia’s second largest healthcare facility. Our 393-bed facility, located in Huntington, West Virginia is currently seeking applications for a full time Clinical Pharmacy Emergency Medicine Specialist as we expand our clinical pharmacy services. St. Mary’s Medical Center began providing clinical pharmacy services in our emergency department in 2019 and recently received approval to expand to a second full time Emergency Medicine Specialist position. Additionally, two medication reconciliation technicians have been approved to work directly with admitted patients, as well as our newly renovated retail pharmacy to provide bedside prescription services in the Emergency Department. Our emergency department is a 45-bed state-of-the-art unit and is designated as a Level II Trauma Center, accredited chest pain center, and a comprehensive stroke center. The Emergency Medicine Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will respond to all Stoke Alert, Code Blue, and Trauma events as well as working alongside Emergency Department practitioners to provide high quality care to patients of the Tri-State community. In addition to our current emergency medicine position, our clinical pharmacy team consists of Internal Medicine, Transitions of Care, Infectious Diseases, Critical Care, Cardiac Critical Care, two Oncology specialists, and two pharmacy PGY-1 Residents.
