Resident Research & Poster Presentations

April 1–3, 2027 · Hyatt Regency Mission Bay · San Diego, California

Hosted by the Society of Emergency Medicine Pharmacists (SEMP)

EMPoweRx 2027 Resident Research Reception

Share your research with pharmacy colleagues through the resident poster program. Unique medication practices, innovative services, evaluations and pharmacy practice model changes are welcome, including encore presentations from national meetings.

Two nights of resident research

Following the popularity of last year’s resident poster program, EMPoweRx 2027 is expanding to two evening poster sessions.

  • Thursday night, April 1, 2027
  • Friday night, April 2, 2027
Session times forthcoming

Evening session times will be announced with the 2027 agenda. Presenter session assignments will be provided after acceptance.

Virtual platform presentations

The top three scoring abstracts submitted by the early deadline will be selected for a 10-minute virtual platform presentation. Virtual presentation dates and times will be announced with the agenda.

Eligibility

  • PGY1 pharmacy residents
  • PGY2 pharmacy residents
  • Toxicology fellows
  • Emergency medicine fellows

Abstract submission requirements

  1. Author information: Presenter’s full name, professional credentials, institutional affiliation (healthcare organization and/or college), and email address.
  2. Title: A brief, descriptive title in sentence case.
  3. Abstract body:
    • Purpose: maximum 100 words
    • Methods: maximum 225 words
    • Results: maximum 200 words
    • Conclusions: maximum 100 words
  4. Formatting: Do not include tables, graphs or illustrations. Spell out pharmaceutical acronyms. Specify a practice category, such as cardiology, infectious diseases, toxicology, trauma or emergency medicine.

Research-in-progress abstracts with background and methods only are accepted for the poster session and abstract publication.

Preceptor or RPD sign-off required

Before submitting, obtain approval from your research preceptor or residency program director (RPD) for the abstract and conference presentation. Fellows should obtain approval from their research preceptor or program director.

Provide the approver’s full name, role, institution or residency program, and professional email address. The approver must complete the 2027 sign-off form to document review and approval of the submitted abstract and presentation. Listing an approver’s name alone does not document approval.

Have your approver complete one sign-off per abstract, using the exact presenter email and abstract title that will appear on the submission. Approval does not guarantee conference acceptance, an award or a session assignment. The research team may contact the listed approver to verify the sign-off.
